Northern Irish international Luke Southwood returned to the Completely-Suzuki Stadium in July 2023 on a one-year deal, after leaving fellow League One outfit Reading.
The Robins number one played all 46 league games in the previous 2022/23 season during his initial loan spell in Gloucestershire.
Southwood is a graduate of the Royals’ academy, breaking into their first team in 2021/22, preferred by then-manager Veljko Paunovic over former Napoli and Brazilian international ‘keeper Rafael Cabral.
He’s previously had loan spells with Bath City, Eastleigh, and Hamilton Academical, and was a member of the England Under-20 squad that won the 2017 World Cup in India.
Now though, he represents the country of his grandmother, and after first receiving a call-up in November 2021, he made his international debut in a 3-1 win over Luxembourg in March 2022.
